Memory Card Prices are Dumb

April Store Closure and Pricing Notice (Updated)

The Eternal Retro store will be closed April 3 – April 17. Be aware that some items have a few day turnover time (HDDs, large orders, etc…) so anything that we can’t finish in time to get in the mail on the 4th may be held till the shop re-opens.

There will be no sorry-for-the-wait shop discount for this one, unfortunately; with as rapidly as media prices keep increasing and how supply is usually limited when we do find a good price it’s hard to predict what’s going on in the future.

Shop prices keep creeping up a bit at a time. When we find a deal on media we pass it on, but once we’ve run out of that discount stock things get adjusted to the new media prices.

The discounted 16GB cards for the small collections we’re down to the last box, so once those are used up those will likely end up getting switched to 32GB cards and 32GB pricing. We’ve secured a substantial number of 32GB cards, though so those should be good for the rest of the year. 64GB, 128GB, and now 256GB media we’ve secured at least a good few months

512GB, we’re trying. Running into quantity limits when trying to stock up whenever we find a good price but we have completely run out of our supply and are now having to adjust to current prices to keep restocked. And 1TB, yeah… 🔥

The number of counterfeit cards being sold on online marketplaces has always been bad, but with the price gouging going on the problem has gotten so much worse. Remember if a microSD is priced 1/2 or less of what it’s going for from other vendors… it’s likely a fraud.

Be safe out there…
